Kanosh is on US-91 between Cove Fort and Meadow, just east of I-15. The settlement was first called Corn Creek because the first whites found Indian corn growing along the creek in 1854. Kanosh was a friendly Indian chief who camped in this area with his band. "Kan" means "willow," as in "Kanab." "Oush" means "bowl." Chief Kanosh received his name as a baby because he enjoyed playing with his mother's willow bowl or jug.
Kanosh has several beautifully restored pioneer style homes along with a cute mechantile store, LDS chapel, park & pavillion, and baseball field. All the kids are bused to Fillmore for all grades.
